Brandon Price

Dr. Price is a scientist, businessman and entrepreneur, with more than 30 years in the biopharmaceutical industry. In March of 2018, with four partners, he co-founded and is interim CEO of Ethicann Pharmaceuticals Inc., a Canadian company focused on cannabinoids as ethical pharmaceuticals. He is also Executive Vice President of Business Development at Nascent Biotech and he has helped to form Biogenin, S.A.P.I. de C.V., located in Guadalajara, Mexico. In early 2019, Dr. Price was named Entrepreneur in Residence for the College of Science and Engineering at Texas State University (San Marcos, Texas).

Sandy Wise

Sandy is Director for New Product Introduction at Baylor Scott & White Health. During her 40 years in health care she has held leadership roles in several large Integrated Delivery Networks to include CHRISTUS which has facilities in several states and internationally. She has worked for several Group Purchasing Organizations specializing in non-labor expense reduction and evaluating products for clinical efficacy. Under her leadership at Vizient (formerly Novation) she developed the first Bariatric Portfolio that has been adapted in healthcare systems across the country.

Aaron Ali

Dr. Ali has guided countless healthcare and life science initiatives to success. MedtoMarket’s mission is to disrupt the opaque and bureaucratic world of the life science industry by fusing together medical innovation, entrepreneurship and training under one roof. As an entrepreneur and investor of other life sciences startups, he has successfully navigated the startup world from concept to market. Dr. Ali is a board certified anesthesiologist who has practiced for the past 16 years.

Sonia Hatfield

International Trade Specialist, U.S. Department of Commerce

Sonia is an International Trade Specialist for the Department of Commerce (DOC), US Commercial Service office in Austin, TX. During her time with DOC, she has also served on the China country desk in Washington D.C. and worked overseas in the U.S. Consulate in Vietnam. Prior to working in DOC she worked in international development overseas in India, Jordan, Kenya, and Israel. She has a Master’s in Public Policy from Duke University.

Michael Norman

Michael is an entrepreneur, investor and attorney who has co-founded and led multiple early stage companies that have raised cumulatively more than USD $10M of investment. He leads LivFul’s board of directors as Chairman and the company as CEO. Previously, as CEO of GBDbio, he was successful in obtaining the support of a diverse stakeholder and shareholder group that included major global charitable funders and NGOs, as well as institutional, social impact and individual investors. GBDbio was an early stage biotechnology company attempting to develop the world’s first low-cost rapid diagnostic test for tuberculosis.

Chris Laing

Chris leads an organization that is coordinating the stakeholders of the innovation district emerging around Austin’s new health complex. Anchored by the new collaboration among University of Texas at Austin’s Dell Medical School, Seton Healthcare, and Central Health,  and supported by the Downtown Austin Alliance, Opportunity Austin, and community stakeholders. Prior to joining the Science Center, Chris worked for a number of biomedical start-up companies, ran a research program at the University of Pennsylvania, and was
a practicing companion animal veterinarian in the United Kingdom.

Karen Gordesky

Karen has more than 30 years of sales, negotiating, sales management, contract management, client relations, and marketing experience in both the medical device and diagnostic industries. She has a proven track record assessing client needs and developing practical business solutions both internally and in the field. Karen began her career as a lab technician for a reference lab. She has worked with Fortune 500 companies including Johnson & Johnson/Depuy Synthes, Abbott Laboratories, and Zimmer. Using her professional experience, Karen founded in 2009.

Mike Lawson

Jim Sargent

David Cocke

David is a retired Gill Chaired Professor of Bio-medical Engineering and Entrepreneurship from Lamar University. He has written more than 40 SBIR Proposals, acquired more than 25 million dollars in funding from multiple sources while a professor. He has over 200 scientific publications and taught numerous graduate classes in innovation, commercialization and entrepreneurship. David is currently an entrepreneur researching and consulting on autoimmune diseases and wound healing. David was educated in Texas with a BS in Chemistry from the University of Texas, an MS in Chemistry and Engineering from Lamar University and a PhD in Chemistry from Texas A&M University.

Scott Connell

Vice President, Temple Economic Development Corporation (TEDC)

Scott spent the past three decades in the economic development industry, helping communities in Texas and North Carolina recruit and retain companies through innovative and aggressive strategies. Most recently, Scott led the economic development staff at the City of Fort Worth and previously served in various economic development leadership roles in Texas at Irving, Sherman, Waco, Belton, Victoria and Yoakum. Scott has been instrumental in assisting companies to invest more than $4 billion and create 16,500 jobs in the communities he served. Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Texas at Austin. He has a achieved the Certified Economic Developer designation and the Master Practitioner diploma from the Advanced Economic Development Program.

Jeff Levine

Jeff has a 30+ year track record of starting and building great companies. Prior companies include commercial and consumer electronics design and manufacturing, online employment screening and risk management platforms, and Fit and Fearless Krav Maga and CrossFit training centers. Jeff was responsible for all aspects of business development, marketing, sales, service and support. He has four exits, including RiskWise and People-Wise to Lexis Nexis. He has taught entrepreneurship at Johns Hopkins, Texas A&M, and Capital Factory, served under contract as Chief Combatives Officer to the US Army's 75th Training Division, and authored a book on Krav Maga. He graduated from SUNY Stony Brook with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and received his M.I.M. from Thunderbird School of Global Management.
